About The Role
NPL has an immediate vacancy within the Community Projects Section of the Capital and Projects Department for a
Supervisor – Construction Projects role. Reporting to the Superintendent – Community Projects, the suitable candidate will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of on-site construction activities across multiple projects. The role involves coordinating contractors, managing resources, and ensuring adherence to engineering specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will;
- Supervise day-to-day construction activities across multiple project sites within the mine
- Development of project execution plan
- Development and compliance with engineering SOW and specification
- Health, Safety, Security and Environmental management, including rigorous use of JSA and SWP
- Develop / implementation of project change management procedure
- Compile and manage work schedules and budgets for all aspects of the project
- Management of earthmoving, civil, structural and other specialized contractors
- Report writing and cost variance reporting
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety briefings, and toolbox talks
- Demobilization of construction resources and equipment
- Implement and manage a project stock reduction plan
- Coordinate and monitor contractors, subcontractors, and in-house teams
- Ensure construction works meet engineering specifications, timelines, and site safety standards
- Liaise with project engineers, planners, and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials and resources
- Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices
- Maintain accurate records of progress, safety incidents, and project documentation
- Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Policy and all related rules and procedures
Qualifications And Experience
To succeed in this role, you will need;
- Recognized tertiary Degree qualifications in Engineer, Building Construction, or equivalent are desirable, in addition to the key skills and experience
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in construction supervision within the mining, infrastructure, or heavy industry sectors
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership and team coordination skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage medium scale construction projects
- Excellent communication (both oral and written), negotiation and interpersonal skills
- High level analytical, Conflict and dispute management skills
- Proven record of experience in Planning and Scheduling
- Advanced level skills utilizing Microsoft Office programs, in particular Word and Excel, PowerPoint and MS Projects
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and cultural awareness.
- Active PNG Driver’s License Class 6

Mobilization Requirements
This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
